4 eggs, slightly beaten, or 6 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 pints fresh blueberries
In a large saucepan, blend together eggs, sugar, and salt. Gradually stir in milk. Cook, stirring constantly, over low heat until mixture thickens just enough to coat a metal spoon. Stir in vanilla. Cool quickly by setting pan in ice water and stirring for a few minutes. Cover and chill thoroughly. Spoon blueberries into dessert or parfait glasses. Spoon custard over berries.
