A friend of mine once said:
America is a country that was started by a bunch of people who wanted to be left the hell alone. It's now a country filled with people whose favorite past-time is trying to force other people to live a certain way.
That pretty much sums it up right there, dunnit?
I cringe everytime I hear someone state that America is free. Like hell it is! I don't know what sand dune these folks have their heads buried in, but America hasn't been free in quite sometime, and Bush is tightening the reigns on a daily basis. He didn't start the downhill slide, but he sure is using it to his best advantage and accelerating the process like a brushfire gone wild.
One of my first pet peeves was when the Separation of Church & State got tossed out the window. I was aghast that there wasn't all that much outcry from the American people when Bush had the audacity to suggest that God is on our side in the latest war in the Middle East. Don't even get me started on organized religion... it is infuriating enough that he would toss the Constitution out the window without a by-your-leave, no matter which religion he chose. He did chose one, and he pushes it daily.
No-knock searches and warrantless wire-taps? Do you sincerely believe this is all about stopping so-called terrorism? Wake up. Open your eyes. It is about power, folks, and control. Bush is adept as using perceived fear to get you all to bow to his ridiculous crap. And you're buying it.
Point to 9-11 all ya want. the facts are all out there if you care to dig and take the time to put the pieces together. I'll take the liberty of quoting yet another friend rather than type it all out for you myself:
If you think 9-11 wasn't an inside job you are blind. There's a man who was the head janitor for the WTC for 25 years. His name is William Rodriguez. He was in the basement level B when he felt explosions occur BENEATH him that lifted him off his feet. These explosions happened BEFORE the first plane hit. There are also recorded sound waves that will back this up. There are several others who were burned from those explosions. That is also documented.
Google him and watch his compelling video or go to this link:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5910974259486671211&pr=goog-sl
I doubt most of you will watch the powerful video. If you do, listen to the part where the government offered him millions of dollars not to tell his story. Do you know the other facts like scientists telling us that there is no way jet fuel (which burns up during the initial explosion) can melt steel - yet they found melted steel in the wreckage. If you watch the video of 9-11, you will see explosions occur in the towers like in a controlled demolition. The kitchens were ELECTRIC - there was no gas in that building. Why were the bomb-sniffing dogs ordered to stop working the towers on 9-6? Why has the wreckage of 9-11 vanished? Why were so many more millions spent on Clinton's sex scandal yet very little by the 9-11 commission? Why did Cheney order hijacking simulations on that day which took our NY area jet fighters to another location? Why did so many tenants of the WTC magically know to vacate the towers before the event? Why have so many many in Bush's camp quit to "spend more time with their families?" You think I have an attitude? You're damn right I do. Our government lied to us. Bush needs to be impeached and treated as a criminal against humanity.

You think the Patriot Act, and in its wake Homeland Security, are there to protect you from anything? Please. They are there as yet more control tactics. They are there to get you used to your loss of freedoms and rights. Did you know that things like perfume cannot be shipped by air to points outside the US? They can be shipped to points inside the US... who is being protected to in-flight blow ups here? Certainly not the US. Planes coming into the US from Europe carry the stuff all day long. Hell, I've bought quite a bit myself from the in-flight sales cart.
And speaking of flights entering the US, why is it that I, the US Citizen with the US passport, is the one who every single time gets pulled aside by Immigration and stuck in a room for 20 minutes while they check me out? They have not once done this to Lars. They then further harrass me at Customs with the same behavior all over again. I'm assuming at this point I must be on some list.... which is, of course, unconstitutional. I am supposed to have the right to speak out against my government without fear of harrassment.
And all that is just my gripes with the current US regime. I could go on for hours about the American populace and the bored housewives who think it is their divine duty to tell everyone else what to watch, what to play, and how to live their lives. I'm sorry, but groups like the Parents Television Council (PTC) just get my ire up in short order. They want to do away with certain shows on cable. On Cable fer crissakes! I pay for cable when in the US to get away from censorship!
Man, I cannot wait to be a Swedish Citizen. Sverige may not be perfect, but at least they understand the evil inherent in censorship, and they allow parents to actually be parents and raise their kids as they see fit. You know, change the freakin channel if they don't like what's on. Argh.
More later.... after my blood pressure goes back down. HA!

The problem is that too many do, however. And the one's who are paying attention and seeing the truth of the situation have very little recourse. Bush made sure of that. If you try to do anything about it, you are labeled a terrorist.
It just sickens me. There is much to love about the land of the US, and the idea of the US, but unfortunately it is headed rapidly down a very bad path... one I decided I do not want to be a part of.
And yet I keep mouthing off. Hoping against hope that somehow something happens to turn it back around.
Bad language does not turn kids into killers.
GrinningDoc
But... back to what I said. When I read your article the first time, I read "censorship" as in restricting sex or violence scenes, and not as much as bleeping out "bad language" (which I do appreciate that the TV stations bleep them out, because I personally don't want to hear them). I don't even like shows such as WWF Smack Down because kids mimic. That's what they do. You said the parents should change the channel if they don't like what they see. What if the parents are violent (or not sensible) themselves, and they enjoy watching it with the kids? What if the kids watch those shows without the guidance of the parents? I am not saying you cannot guide your kids. I am saying "in general", not all parents are responsible. They could potentially leave the kids be, and there isn't any proper guidance for the kids from the parents.
I mean no disrespect to you in this, but I have always called things as I see them and I am very direct about it...
What it looks like to me is that you are onje of those people who want to tell everyone one else what to do. Not everyone agrees with you deem to be unacceptable. Certainly you and I do not agree at all on child rearing. That part is obvious.
but, you know, to get off topic a bit from the real issues here, I suggest you research a bit and try to understand how 'foul language' even became such.... WHY do you think cewrtain words are bad and not others which have the same meaning?
Ohj. Ok.. I'm going to save that particular soap box for a future editorial...
Julie B...
I think you missed the entire point of the post. By trying to open a few eyes, I am certainly NOT abdicating respisibility... and since what America does tends to have ramifications for the entire world, I believe I am well within any reasonable person's perception of responsibility to do so.
If the US put up a big ol' bubble and stayed out of the rest of the world, then I might just shut up.
What I am not doing, however, is telling you what to watch or how to raise your kids. I am pointing out a few facts here, my take on various issues, and hoping you are intelligent enough to consider them. I am not waging campaigns against sponsors to further censor your TV viewing, nor involved in an email barage to the FCC on the matter. If I do not like something, I get off my butt and change the freaking channel. It really is that simple. The point of the whole Bored Housewive's stance is that they do not stop at giving their viewpoint, they go too far and try to force that viewpoint on everyone else.
I never ask for anyone to totally agree with me, just to consider and think.
Unlike Flounder here who is too busy flag waving to be confused with any facts...
The turth is, I adore and hold dear what America is SUPPOSE to be. What has been done to the premise of the country saddens me a great deal.
Yes but, had any kids scene that, then I would argue that the determining factor on how detrimental it would have been is the parent taking the time to discuss it with said child... not the fact they saw it at all.
And no. I am not advocating children be allowed to view sex in a movie.. what I do advocate is that it nobody's business but the parents.
I think the bigger problem, however, is the earlier part of my post...
One last thing before I go try to get some actual real paycheck kinda work done....
I do thank everyone for not reverting to the childish *you have typos therefor you suck* argument... my fingers tend to hit random odd keys here and there... and my fingers skip words here in there on the way from my brain. DOH! Drives my Editor at the magazine nuts. heh.
Of course it was not soley due to censorship. That is the least of the issues in the US at the moment... and if you really truly believe Bush supports anything to do with the Constitution, you have not been paying attention at all.
To be honest, I am enjoying your facetiousness... a great deal. You are pulling tricks that *I* am usually guilty of. Love it.
Just for the record, I have voted in every election since turning 18... I'm 49 now. I have even campaigned for certain people who I shall not name due to realizing the idiocy of that endeavor given the beauty of hindsight. heh.
LaughingDoc
They are. They are actively working to take away your option to watch certain shows. I am not taking away anything, merely trying to inform. If the PTC, et al, were merely putting up websites voicing their opinions and not trying to enact law around what can be show on MY tv, it would be another ball game.
Ok. For real. I really have to get this article in before I get throttled.... this place is far too addicting.
GrinningDoc
I was making arrangements to leave when I met Lars and ended up in Sweden instead of where I had been heading. I t turns out I am quite pleased with that event. Sweden is a gorgeous country... in a different way than the US is a gorgeous country (and it is in places.)
As to the babes, I'll see what I can arrange for you....
Now stop luring me away from Word. You are bad! Bad I say!
ChucklingDoc
One thing I disagree with though. Americans wern't really ALL that innocent about wanting to be left alone. America got its start by shoving indigents aside and interfering with THEIR lives, starting with Columbus.
If they keep harrassing me, I may well take my cane upside some Homeland Security heads... keep your eyes on the Miami Herald for further developments.
SnickeringDoc
Who, contrary to what American children are tought in schools, did not in fact discover America... one of many outright lies from the school system. Yeah.. yet another soap box issue.
heh.
Interesting. Thanks for your assessment.
Voicing personal opinion is a-ok in my book.
Forcing that opinion on others via regulations and laws is not.
ClarifyingDoc
Hiya Matthew.
Since you are validating me, you clearly must be brilliant...
CacklingDoc
If Sandy is a satirest, and it rhymes with terriosist...this is like Burt Lancaster when he played a preacher in that movie....oop, my brain farted and I forgot the name of the movie. Anyway, just skip this and carry on.
Man, you never let me have any fun....
ChucklingDoc
Business as usual, eh?
GrinningDoc
Keep bending over and putting your head in the sand. It's the perfect posture for the vile cabal to continue doing to you what it has been doing for six years.
Lori, I don't agree with everything you said; there are still many unanswered questions about the 9-11 debacle but that is an unessential detail that is not needed for the more general conclusion regarding what this cabal has done to our country. And the question of voting? Maybe I would be more inclined to parrot the injunction to 'vote or shut up' if I had any reason to believe that the vote would be counted. The overwhelming evidence that votes were manufactured is but one of the incredible crimes of this administration. And yet, with passive acceptance of the 'loyal opposition,' the perpetrators of this horrible fraud remain in control. I wonder who this loyal opposition is loyal to. It's certainly neither this country nor its constitution.
So glad to see you on gather.
You are an intelligent individual, a clear thinker and a true patriot. I agree with the essence of your article.
You have done a great job of explaining and discussing the fact that 9/11 was totally managed and orchestrated by the US to terrify and defraud the people. They are basically frightening the people to give up almost everything they have ever worked for in order to achieve a phony sense of security.
I have researched the 9/11 event for a very long time and I am convinced that 9/11 was definitely an INSIDE JOB!
For those who are interested to know the truth, I did a Google search under the "9/11 an inside job" which resulted in an astonishing 27,000,000, yes 27 Million articles.
Here is the Google search link: http://www.google.com.ar/search?num=20&hl=en&q=9%2F11+an+inside+job&btnG=Search
There is an unbelievable and overwhelming amount of evidence to prove that 9/11 was produced, directed and run by the US for profiteering purposes.
Some people elect to go into a denial about the 9/11 event, because the truth is so excruciating painful to accept.
Some people don't ever want to consider the fact that their own leaders intentionally orchestrated a great tragedy in order to horrify the people to submit to a step by step plans for a dictatorship.
The FEAR-BASED plans are being executed with astonishing success. The people are so scared that they are eagerly handing over their rights, freedom, and their belongings in order to feel SECURE against a US-manufactured enemy!
Thank you Lori, you are doing a great service to your nation and your country!
You make many valid points. As usual.
You know I enjoy your company anyway, right? Err... or should I say 'left'?
I make no apologies for Bush - he's far from perfect. But I do hate seeing so many otherwise reasonable and intelligent individuals automatically jump on the Bush bashing bandwagon.
The fact is it's true - this is not the same country it was even a few decades ago. But it's also not the same planet. I cringe when I see what many do in the name of religion - any religion. I cringe at the political extremists of all ilk. And I posit that you're no more free from governmental stupidity in Sweden than you would be in the US - you're just in a smaller country that is less of an international target.
Whatever.
Anyway - interesting reading.
pear
No, Sweden is not perfect. No governement is or can ever be, but it is hella better than what is in control in the US.
and it isn't as simple as jumping on a Bush-bashing band wagon. Like I said in this article, it didn't start with him, it has been heading this direction for quite awhile now.. but he is certainly furthering the downfall exponentially.
I have watched interviews of people that were in the WTCs. They stated that they were actually ordered to stay where they were and to not leave the building after the first plane hit....It seems to me that so many people could have been saved if the buildings were evacuated at that point instead of waiting until both buildings started to fall.
I also want to "indirectly" point out that nothing brings about patriotism best than the feelings 9-11 brought to those who believed terrorists just invaded. War for a short amount of time will boost patriotism and the economy...all without sacrificing rich kids to the military and hurting their parents taxes. Maybe that's why it is marketed so much.
