I see places or met prople for the first time and I swear I met them before or I had a dream about them. Then there have been times I have dreams that I guess I forgot about like dejvu. The first time I had ever noticed it I was 6 or 7.I was on a family trip with my parents. My father wanted to see a man about going into bussiness with him .Anyhow on the way there.I had swear I had been there before.I mean same signs same people. Same house everything.I kept asking are you'll sure we have never been her before. So That was my first dejvu experience. Then later on my mother told me that she does it all the time and so does my grandmother. She thinks it is because we have Indian blood in our family.Anyhow I just thought I would share that with you all.

Some say the kind of feeling you had, Shaunee, might be Past Life memories surfacing. Suggesting that you may have been in that location in a past life.
The kind of déjà vu you are talking about, Jason, some call Precognition sparking moments before the real experience.
But some of the more skeptical types say that déjà vu is a kind of short circuit of the brain.
I don't buy this short circuit theory. Like you Jason, I have had the experience of knowing what was about to happen just before it happened, as if it were a pre-memory. It happened once when I was in a conversation with someone, and I knew exactly what the other person was about to say, before they said it. I became very conscious of it, and it continued several seconds, including knowing what I was about to say, as well. I consciously decided to go with the flow and it all unfolded exactly as my pre-memories revealed. This experience was not a brain malfunction, but something much more akin to precognition. And I don't just think that, or believe that, but I know that. I have absolutely no doubt about this one. I defy the skeptics. They can believe what they like, but I know they are wrong.
william said it very well !
time is not linear - so past , present and future are just dimensions- at leats this is what i think it is and we can just get into one of them; how? I really don't know but it is happenning to all of us.
thank you
This is not nearly so interesting, or romantic, as the other explanations.
Yes, this is a very "common" occurance with people. I see that certain posts have shared "their" reasonings on the occurance and have stated their opinions on what it may or may not be, but the fact is this; Science is hypothetical. There is a reason that no one can explain it and there is no "concrete" answer as to the actuality of Deja Vu. As a matter of fact, for all those people claiming to know the answer , I have an answer for them...no one knows absolutely sure what this is , why we have it or anything..there are only hypothetical guesses as to what it is.
I found some pretty interesting links that you may enjoy - and "others" who think they have all the answers , may enjoy - they are as follows:
http://people.howstuffworks.com/question657.htm
http://mb-soft.com/public/dejavu.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%A9j%C3%A0_vu
I hope it helps for you to know that others have these experiences as well and that there is nothing wrong with your "brain" or anything as others may like to tell you. The fact is that you are normal and even the "norm" is still open to hypothetical conclusions.
Again, good discussion here.
