Could The NSA Domestic Spying Program Have Prevented 9/11?

As mentioned by Greg Schiller the "firewall" of sorts was put in place in the Clinton Administration (personally I think to make it safer for Bill to do what he wanted without the "controlling legal authority" finding out... ask Gore what "Controlling Legal Authority" is. Oh and while your at it ask Bill Clinton what "is" is.
Next... it was not blinder that created the threats and it was not Bush Jr or senior who created the Islamic and Iranian problem.. In fact if you look back at the problems we have had in the Middle east you will see a familiar Face full of teeth... smelling of peanuts and sawdust from habitat for humanity. Do you believe me? Where are my facts? Well according to the son of the former Ayatollah Khomeini , Khomeini said he was in a great panic when the student revolutionary council took over the embassy because he expected a full scale attack, but was amazed when Carter began pleading with him to release the prisoners… it was at this time that the phrase "America can do nothing" was coined by him, and Death to America began to be a real dream for the Fanaticals in Iran and other places in the middle east. and perhaps this…
http://www.nationalreview.com/impromptus/impromptus050302.asp
And so after Carter taught the Middle east that we can't and wont do anything back in 1980 now he is continuing his assault on the American National Security with his interview in Der-spiegel…

It is my argument that Carter is GUILTY of harming more Americans then
Bin-Laden…
SO why did 9-11 happen? Because Carter Happened… and It takes G. W. Bush to begin to clean up the mess and prove to the World that the US can and will DO Something… When attacked and it wont be the liberal "cut and run" and don't say this is another Viet-Nam… remember that was started by a Democrat not a republican… remember JFK Vietnam was and is his war…
PS A message for Mr. Carter … I know what you did I know you called off a mission in Iran and left American soldiers behind enemy lines.. and it was there abilities alone that saved them, you abandoned them.. So you have no moral authority with me, you are a fool and criminally negligent. No amount of house building and no misguided awarding of the peace prize will exonerate you…

fooled a lot of the people a lot of the time.

matthew - and people think i'm misguided....
War is ugly. It's ugly for the soldiers fighting it, for the people who live where it is being fought, and for the people left behind to worry about the soldiers who have left home to fight. By definition, in a war people get hurt. Soldiers get hurt, civilians get hurt, news people and ancillary people get hurt. It's not pretty, not for anyone. It's not fun for anyone either. It's not supposed to be.
When you go to war, you are SUPPOSED to be telling the country on which you have declared war, "If you dare to try to attack us, we will annihilate you, or at the very least make your life so horrible that you will wish we had." Otherwise, why bother?
We, however, have repeatedly told the world that if we send our soldiers to your country, we will follow this set of rules that we think will make us look like wonderful, smart, caring people while you kick our butts.
That's not war, that's suicide. We have sent the entire world a crystal clear message that we will NOT meet them on their own terms, we will NOT do whatever is necessary to win this or any other spat, and WE WILL NOT BACK OUR SONS AND BROTHERS WHO ARE DYING TO KEEP OUR LIVES AT THE LEVEL THAT OUR FATHERS AND UNCLES, AND EVEN GRANDFATHERS, FOUGHT AND SOMETIMES DIED TO SECURE FOR US.
That's our message to the world, and it's pretty disrespectful to my father, and everyone else's father, who fought before Vietnam. Of course, if we have no self respect, there is no imperative to respect those who worked and sacrificed so hard to give us these possibly too comfortable lives that we have today.
carter got his ass handed to him by bush, sr, the cia man who negotiated that entire hostage deal.
grow up, already. this has been common knowledge for twenty-five years now.
ANSWER:
all that $$$ is going somewhere, my friends.
US's foreign policy for the last 100 years:
Pretend you want to spread Democracy and Freedom, but do the exact opposite.
Start the wars OVER THERE,... so we can reward the Exxons OVER HERE!
"Why are we in this Mess in the Middle east anyhow???"
Because Corporations now Rule the World for Profits only!
our talking about it is not what makes it a waste of time.
"if you were over there is that what you would want people to think and be talking about"
if it involved ending this madness and getting me back to my family, community, and job that pays for everything, then absolutely.
hell, yes.
Many of us did not vote for the warmongers, nor do we believe the biggest of them were ever elected. Regardless of whether or not anyone voted them into office or believes others did, we still have the right and the responsibility to hold them accountable for the actions they take in our name and to try to stop them from destroying our country and our world. As a citizen, a friend, a human, I don't want to know anyone is over there for nothing. That's why I want to do everything I can to get them out of there.

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

it is relevant.
very relevant.
What is it you do to get them out of there?
what did you have in mind?
I feel badly for you that your husband is over there. My son is as well. We do share that, and I respect you for your sacrifices.
My son is doing his job, as is your husband. They are not fighting for nothing, they are fighting for each other. They are fighting to come home to be with their families. A lot of them are definitely not fighting for THIS president or adminstration, and have the intellectual ability to seperate the Leadership from Our Nation.
Other than that, they are over there on false prentenses and most of them know that. If some of them can find some way to do some good, then they do. Some or just biding their time, and some are sociopaths that have an excuse to behave sociopathically. I pray that our loved ones are not in that last group.
If they fall, they fall in the line of duty, just like a fireman or a police officer. They are doing a dangerous job and they know there may be consequences.
That they are doing it under false pretenses is not their fault, and it is our duty to get them home however we can. Support them, like you always do, but don't equate what this administration is doing in the Middle East with fighting freedom, because it is apparent that it is not.
Our soldiers were sent to Iraq because our government wanted a permanent miltary presence in the Middle East, and Saudi Arabia was getting too much internal flake for the Bin Sultan Air Base. If they had told the public this, no one would have allowed it to happen.
Our corportations involved in Oil Recovery also wanted control of some of the oil in the Middle East and Saddam sat on the second biggest supply in the world. (which is why we made friends with him and supplied him with weapons of mass destruction in the 1980s.)
How do we get them out of there? By being educated on what is actually going on over there, and trying to elect people who will have sensible foreign policy.
We vote, we excercise our freedom of speech and right to protest, and we support the guys when they come home so they don't feel like they have been over there for nothing. That is all we CAN do. But we must if we want to protect the thing they are really fighting for...and that's our Constitution.
The truth is that we have a lot of older people over there, because we have a high percentage of National Guard and Reservists over there.
My son is only 20, but his is by far the youngest in his Reserve Unit. There are 8 women in his unit of 25. There are 6 people under the age of 30, in his unit.
Thankfully, he is in a unit that is not doing door to door searches or providing road security every day. He is an office weinie...for the most part. (he does go out with combat troops from time to time, but is currently stations in Baghdad's Green Zone.
He started off wanting to make lifes better, but his letters are getting less and less positive as time wears on. It is a big reason to get us out of there. Particularly if you don't agree with this war.
Strength...Natalie...keep in touch and be happy for every minute your husband is in this country. : )
Nice to see you again Martin.
Do you ever listen to Thom Hartmann or read his stuff?
I wish more people understood the concept of "the Commons".
rebecca - hadn't heard of him before, but i will look at his website. thanks!
if the war is not fought now it will be then...
While there are instances where there are agressors who have to be dealt with, such as in World War II, there are also instances where we are the provacateurs. This is, and has been, the case in the Middle East since it was discovered that there was oil there.
Almost all of the decisions that have been made, regarding the Middle East, in the last 100 years have centered around their oil reserves, including the decision to back the nation of Israel after World War II.
The fact that some poor Islamists are radicalized and trying to spread their brand of Islam throughout the world, should not have been a surprising result to the people making the plans. Poor people do tend to turn to radical religion and occasionally violence, when they are subverted into near slavery conditions. They only have the hope for a better life in another world, and they have nothing left to lose in this one.
My son is a soldier, as are a good number of other family members. They are, none of them, war loving, or accepting. It is a last resort, not a first resort. And it is never to be done without planning and forethought, by people who understand the nature of war. We don't have this in this conflict. The people who understand war have all been retired, denegrated and subverted.
It has turned into a religious war and fanactical Islam wants to annihilate the Jews and US.
As for getting out of Iraq -- I think Bush decided he wanted a 20 year war. (not that he is telling American's that) because he doesn't tell Americans anything.
We all set around scratching our heads....hmmmm....
But the truth is that there's a huge agenda, a bigger than life agenda...it includes creating a North American Union (like the European Union)...which will include Canada and Mexico. (that's why Bush isn't interested in securing our borders or any of that immigration stuff)
Make the illegal aliens legal citizens...hmmm...(why not? they are already on the North American continent) what's the difference?
As for NSA and Clinton...not only did Clinton begin that ordeal, but he also put into effect a Martial Law order that takes but one signature of the President of the United States, to declare we are in Martial Law in the case of any relevant disaster.
Listening into our conversations is only the beginning.
