A Sand Dune Away
Brackish marsh lies still
Behind the sandy dune mound
Stagnation in green
Salty plants fermenting there
While seagulls peck tiny crabs

very nice Jim, I could hear the greenhead flys buzzing...
I remember those sultry dog day nights, their luminescent fire flies; walking 'til my scorched lungs drew cooler air, 'til silhouetted hubbub from bench and bush and unclear path subsided and home finally sounded like a pleasant place to return to.
As Bob Hope would have said, "Thanks for the memory!"
Did you know that "Dog Days" are named after the Dog Star that rises and sets at the same time as the Sun, from early July through early September?
