River at Twilight

Time before night
a curtain

of mist
softens the hard edges

of the previous day's heat.

Gossamer veil parting

to reveal fairydom.
Fiery with mischief, mayhem and magick.

Miniscule points of light

winking inspiration.
Awesome burning faces of light
float gaily past

blossoms

of foxglove,

columbine and hyacinth
nod in homage

heavy with

the evening's dew.
