Introducing The Adoption Triad at Gather

The Adoption Triad is a group for all those within the Triad - adoptive parents, birth parents and adoptees.

Share your story, where you fit into the Triad, if you have had a reunion, are you searching and have tips or need some advice or looking to adopt?

Maybe you relinquished your baby as a result of a teen pregnancy and kept it a secret all these years and need help letting others know, or you want to make contact and need assistance in composing a letter - read any good books from those who are in the Triad?

Whatever the issue - bring it to the group and let's discuss in comments and articles the decisions involved in adopting, placing a child up for adoption and living as an adoptee.

Have you adopted a child from foster care, internationally, a special needs kid or an older child? Share with others contemplating adoption on how long the experience takes, what the home visit is like, what type of forms you need to fill out and the financial aspect of the process.

How does insurance fit into the adoption? Is there a monthly stipend for adoption and much more that many might not be aware of. I know I have thought about it, but as a single parent to two special needs kids already not sure I qualify financially and my home is not large enough.

I am a birth mother and have yet to make contact or initiate a search. My father was adopted and we never did find out anything about his birth family.

Thanks so much for being connected to me thru Gather, because I have been searching for a group such as this for many years! I was a child adoptee myself but at the age of 34 I was fortunate enough to locate my biological family.

Bonnie, my best wishes go to you for when you ARE able to open up to that search. I'm an adoptive parent (see my series, Miguk Parents - Hanguk Kids) and I know that there are things kids think about, hiding them away, wondering, for years and years; and I also know the other side of being separated from children, whatever the reason - the drive to reconnect, and worries and fears of possible rejection. Ah, life! Good for you, starting this group.

thanks, bonnie, for starting this group. I am a birth mother who gave up my first-born for adoption almost 40 years ago. Every single day of all those long years I have thought of her. My great fear and sadness is that, if she passed, i never knew, and could not even mourn for her. I am so afraid that she did not get a wonderful family to cherish her, and that her life may not be a good one.

my daughter and i have searched for several years, trying to get some info. Hopefully one of these times my first child will at least be able to get some info about us, and know that she has always been so loved. i want her to know that she Was wanted, and that the decision to let her go was devastating.

even if i never know about her, if she still exists she needs to know that she is a precious gift.

I would like to joing this group. I am a birthmother who's child has turned 21 this year and I would like the support from other's, adoptive parents, adoptees and other birth mothers about so many questions I have been asking myself for a long time.
