My Grandmother was a special lady.
A mother of five children.
She grew up during the depression.
In Sunbury,Pa. Muriel Joyce Bright.
She only went by Joyce, & I was lucky enough to be named after her. She married my Grandma, Dale McKee.
When I was first married, a member of a young Marine
Corps family, I thought I was poor.
My Grandmother taught me what really being poor meant.
I was not even close.
She showed me how to take care of my children.
She knew all the tricks.
Getting a baby on a schedule.
How to put a baby to sleep.
She made it all look so easy.
How she loved them.
Whatever I wanted to cook, if I never had before...
all I had to do was call Grandma.
Grandma had all the answers.
Whatever was bothering me, Grandma validated my feelings.
Her point of view helped me so much throughout my life.
I never knew how much until she was gone.
So many things I wish I could have said to Grandma.
She was so strong I thought she would always be here.
How I love my Grandma.
I know she can see me, I know she knows I miss her.
How I wish Grandma was still here.

During my teenage years it seemed like we were the only ones who cared about keeping our family together amidst the fighting and jealousy.
She was also the only one in my family who supported me when I came out.
I'm the only one in the family to have her eyes, so I think of her everytime I look in the mirror.
take care... love you...
I am glad to have all my memories.
