Always There

What brilliance shines on your benevolence

That makes it clear for one and all to see

On the darkest night, the foggiest day?

Your caring touch, your soft eyes, your kind words

Ministering to this needy stranger

Lifting spirits, spreading peace when I'm scared,

My nurse, my treasured caregiver, my friend,

Yes, it is a truly altruistic profession and you have honored it greatly. I am a teacher but I always wanted to be a nurse. It is grand that you appreciate a nurse.

Liz--

I am always amazed by the unselfish nature of caregivers--and I mean nature! Regardless of the stresses applied to them, sometimes by the very patients they tend, they give us what we need in order to heal.

Wonderful tribute. The contribution of nurses is so highly underrated. I will never forget these angels in white who took such good care of me when my baby was stillborn back in 1995. It was as if they could see into my heart. They knew just what to do and say, and their care was gentle and loving beyond the call of duty.
