Moonlit night

Breezing through

My soul

(rays streaking darkness).

Alone

But not.

The past

Whispering of sorrows

Crying with losses

Gentle with joy

(and yes, sometimes leaping,

sometimes).

Alone

And tomorrow, hope

Dear Hope.

Alone,

But not alone

And my Soul Rejoices.

8 years ago an exchange japanese student stayed with us for a couple weeks. he and my daughter exchanged art mediums. he used his new tools to watercolor a woman standing on a mtn at night with moonlight and clouds and breezey wind. I have never before had a poem leap out of me, as if the picture drew out the words. but it did. for years i left it alone but many thought it was too sad. recently i added a couple lines that indicate the reality of joy that does exist inlife, in spite of the alone and hard times. thanks for your response.
