This was originally a response to Marty S. and his article about the Terror Plot in London to bomb plains heading to the US.
Matthew
Some of the reasons why I am thankful for 9/11, though I wish it had not needed to happen.
I am thankful to 9/11 because some of us woke up, some of realize, that the world is at WAR, this is WWIII. I began back when our Sovereign land was invaded and our people held prisoner... it began in the Carter Administration. Most countries consider invasion of there embassy by a nation to be an act of war, Carter wiped out he blinked first and Bin Ladden and the Iran situation are the result. But because of 9/11 I am awake; my head is not in the sand.
I tell my kids every day I love them, and I pray all the time for more safe days to say it. I am kinder to my wife and more patient with my fellow Americans (except maybe people opinions like Clarks) Anyhow, I am learning how to subsist, to grow food both meat and garden... I am learning how to shoot with effect I am preparing to do what ever is needed to defend my country and my state and my neighborhood and my home and my children from the possible ramifications of WWIII.
I heard today the idea that Iran may e behind the bombers, and if that is true the person went on, then when the planes went into the Atlantic they would probably attack Israel including sending troops right through Iraq... Because frankly I suspect they already have a nuke. They would also turn off there oil shipments and bomb the oil fields possibly even the Saudi's fields. Venezuela would probably turn off there exports to us as well, because as you must realize they just Love us... NOT.
If this happened when we were distracted with the bombings then I suspect the Chinese would take advantage of our distraction and decide it is time for Taiwan to come back into the fold. I also would not bet on south Korea being free for long because the North would most certainly invade and even launch a missile at there enemy the Japanese....
This might happen. It is less likely because of our governments' active work in the Middle East; unless of course we pull out with our tail between our legs like Clark and the other extreme left liberals want us too... Lieberman is a man of sense, even as a demo crate he sees the big picture, and he remembers the ovens, the gas chambers and the world trembling at the war machine of Hitler... Except that small island State Great Brighten did not back away... they stood up then under Winston's leadership as they are doing today with Blair's.
I have been to refugee camps I have seen the bloated bodies and maimed children tortured by communism; I'll be dammed if I let fundamentalist terrorist fools who hate others and don't even understand there own religion... I will not bow, I will not run, I will learn all I can teach my family and my friends to be ready because if I am not ready then I must rely on you, and some of you have given up already, some of you would have welcomed Hitler into NY harbor. I for one will not... I remember my cousin Thomas Stone who died this year in Afghanistan building and training medics to help there own people. I remember my nephew who is training troops in Georgia. I remember my father who served 23 years in the Air force as a Doctor and 8 years more as a doctor to refuges in Thailand, and searching for POW/MIAS. I remember my great great uncle Daniel Townsend who at the age of 20 sent the others away and covered there escape from the British Redcoats at the battle of Lexington and Concord and he died for it leaving his wife and children to continue the fight. My grandfather (several great) his brother survived because of him and thus I am here today. I also remember my Grandfather Storr's who was preaching abolition, and was arrested by the "Democrats" of Dover NH because he was causing trouble (if you know history the Democrats were NOT anti slavery) I also remember my cousin in Iraq and the other who just came home.
I remember my brother Tom's friend and his fiancé who decided to go to NY ahead of the wedding party to get things ready... and ended up going to our Father in Heaven to get things ready for us there instead...
And I remember an anarchist who love his non-uniform of leather chains earrings and tattoo's, and who came through the Drive trough of the store on 9/12/2001 I managed with a flag in his pocket and tears for his fellow Americans on his face...
I remember the fear in my heart when we didn't know what the downed planes meant, and I remember the tears of joy that ran down my face when I saw a police officer at the doors of my children's' school... and how it felt to hold my children soon there after knowing for that moment that they were safe.
And I remember my sisters History teacher from the University of New Hampshire who was on Flight 11 out of Boston on 9/11... And even you Clark and others of you who disagree with me I remember you and I will fight to the death to provide you with the right to argue.
I remember America, and as long as I have breath America will live and I will strive to make sure my children keep her alive long after I am gone.
I remember flight 93 and "Let's roll"
I am just but I am one who will stand and be counted a patriot, an American... I will die for you my friends if that price is asked of me... Who will be counted? Who will stand with me???

Definition: GOD = Your higher power, Heavenly Father, Father of Jesus, Allah, Elohim, the great I am, who must not be named, light, the focus of your faith even if you never call it GOD... I am not being politically correct, I am trying to emphasize that unless your atheist we all have "God in some form."
I have just as much right to ask as you have to express your opinions. I, too, had ancestors in the Revolutionary War, the War Between the States (on both sides, by the way, since they lived in a border state) in fact, in the War of 1812, since some lived in Baltimore, the Spanish-American war, WW I, WW II, if this country was in a war somebody in my family was in the service. Korea, Vietnam, not quite yet in Iraq -- too young. Not bad for a bunch of dedicated liberals.
it is somewhat easer to understand with the other article BUT when one gets in the stream of emotion, it is dificult to keep logic going properly when that upset. I am too tired to try to rewrite tonight, but I will reread it tommarrow and if I can make it a better piece I will.
I don't hate liberals, but what I have seen of liberals is an overwhelming desire for us to "understand" the Terrorists... just like they wanted us to "understand" the calimbine murderers... Well this is War, one we did not start, but one we must win. The alternative is too horrible to imagine, I don't mean for americans, I mean for the world. If they are allowed to win, they will make Hilter look like a kindergarden Bully... We have had other Hitlers, Pul-pot killed as many of his own people as Hilter did the Jews and Saddam was working up to those kind of numbers whne we invaded... but those numbers are nothing to the war that is comming, if we do not fight now and win then the numbers will be in the billions befor it is over. I do not hate anyone, I do hate evil, and I hate thinking every night will tomarrow be the day I must rush to the elementary school to find out if the Terrists have left my children alive... (yes the schools particularly the bus drivers are being trained in anti-terrism procedures) Thus why I would even think of it. Not my idea of fun, but Homeland security was concerned enough last year to impliment the training.
I dont even own a gun, But soonI will, becouse I need to be prepared... not to fight a war but to protect my family even here in America.
I hold no animus toword any person becouse they disagree with me, but I will be damed if I am going to support the idea that somehow America is to blame for the evil perpatrated against it. (I have not spell checked this sorry , but I need sleep.)
hopefully this makes sence...

Bible's Guarantee of Peace
What would Jesus do? He would tell Matthew T to abandon all tohughts of war and to thank Clark_K for advocating peace. If you have read the NT you would know that this is true.
I don't hate liberals, but what I have seen of liberals is an overwhelming desire for us to "understand" the Terrorists... just like they wanted us to "understand" the calimbine murderers... Well this is War, one we did not start, but one we must win."
I have two statements to make, respectfully, to that.
As a liberal, I don't give a damn what the terrorists are thinking, and I am all for common sense measures to protect our security. I don't however believe common sense measures have been applied, since the day before our invasion of Iraq.
My second point is that it is arguable that we haven't started it. Our middle eastern policies have left something to be desired and allowed a culture to flourish where poverty, ignorance and fanaticism have a safe harbor. And when I say, we, I mean the west. All of us taking part in and controlling certain aspects of the oil trade.
One thing that irritates me is the notion that because I am liberal- conservatively- then I am unchristian, abusive of my freedoms of speech, and somehow a fanatic in my own right. I don't call names as I find it unproductive. I would NEVER -especially with my husband in harm's way- say that those who have died or will die should be forgotten. On the contrary, they should be remembered well by finding some way to correct the myriad of mistakes that led to their deaths.
Understand, I am not attacking your view, only questioning your claim that you don't hate liberals. It's been something I encounter a lot in a red state. By now, I know it when I see it.
