I am tired, of politics for the sake of Politicians. Serving others used to be something politicians did. President George Washington served our country, and when he was done he quietly went home... no $200,000 speaking engagement for him. I am originally from New Hampshire and there we have a citizen legislature, you get paid $100 a year plus mileage. That's public service.
I watched along with some of you as the Democrats attacked one of there own, Joseph Lieberman. He was and is being attacked because he was and is honest in his opinions. I don't agree with much that he has to say, but I believe him when he states his reasons, I believe he believes what he is saying. No duplicity, so when he stood up and defended Bush and the war effort against terrorism I was very proud of him, because I knew it would not be popular in his own party. But instead of saying hey Joseph we don't agree with you but respect the hell out of you for saying it his party leaders decided he has to go, even when they had him run for Vice President just 8 years ago... even his running mate Gore isn't standing up for him. Because they (the Dems ) hate Bush and anyone who defends him, not that Lieberman is bad for any other reason, just that he defended the war... hummm sounds like hubris to me... See they have forgotten what the political wars are for, they are NOT for power of one group or another, but for the sake of helping our country to move forward. There was a day when a person voted on an issue because of the issue not just to make sure the other side does not win...
Both parties are guilty of much of this, but in recent years I have seen the Democratic party abandon any real vision or goals other then the hating of Bush and trying to get power... that is not the reason to run for government... not in my book.
We have a war to fight, and to win!!! We can no longer afford to let partisanship divide us from the goal of defending America and Liberty... President JFK wouldn't have allowed it to happen, neither would have President Reagan, let us stand behind President Bush, while sharing our opinions and ideas with him and congress, but not start fights just to disrupt progress in the name of party power.
