Today's Democrats Would Liebermanize JFK

I highly doubt either JFK would've been caught smooching the likes of cheerleader Georgie. Thanks for the chuckle, however.

The prime difference is that JFK would never have signed on to so many of Bush's plans and policies, nor would he have attacked other Democrats for failing to kiss up to the Administration.

It's not about being Republican or Democrat, but rather about being an American and doing what is right for our country. Senator Liberamn is going to remain Senator Lieberman, they are just going to replace the D with an I.
Funny if you guys are going to commnet on JFK, understand that JFK cut taxes in order to boost economic growth. Sound familiar, it works every time. JFK was also a real war heroe unlike his shameless brother Ted who ran off in the Chappaquiddick incident. Although
Ted did serve in the military after he was booted out of Harvard for cheating, taking a cushy desk job in Europe working for NATO.
JFK wouldn't be a part of this modern Democratic party. It is a party of extreme leftists and aging hippies, who can't pull another '60's social revolution , so they are having it within the confines of their party. Good men and women who have served in their party are being cast out in the name of this new breed of Democrat. Ones that will wail at every election that they were cheated. Ones that have no problem airing ads that blather lies, like the ones that ran in the SOuth that accused Republicans if being responsible for burning black churches.... need I say more?
If the left wants to be taken seriously, then the left needs to grow in maturity and have something to bring to the table.

Have you ever listened to her speak or read anything that she's written, or are you just basing this opinion on what your wingnut talking heads have instructed you to think? Sounds to me like the latter.

I'm not so sure that Franklin Roosevelt (who invaded Germany after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor) or Harry Truman (who nuked Japan) wouldn't get the Lieberman treatment too.

Obviously someone remains pretty ignorant about what the "left," or, rather, Modern Liberalism is really about. Standing on the far right wing decrying "left wing extremism" is pretty disingenuous, when you get right down to it. The fact is that the "left" hasn't ran us into the largest debt in our history, started a war with no end in sight, helped destabilize the most volatile region on the planet, and capped it off by giving tax breaks to those who need it the least in the midst of all of the rest of it.

Nor has the "left" shredded the Constitution (you folks remember THAT document, right?) The one that the 'right' considered sacrosanct UNTIL it had the opportunity to eviscerate it? Where's the 1st Amendment protections to free speech? Well, I guess "free speech zones" count for something, eh? Where's the 4th Amendment protections against unreasonable searches? Hey, if the terrorists hate our freedoms, I suppose it's okay if we do away with a few of them in the interest of ostensibly protecting ourselves from attack.

Hah.

No, the "left" gave us safer working environments, universal primary and secondary education, child labor laws, anti-trust legislation, civil rights, the Middle East Peace Accord (anybody remember THAT?), and Social Security... which, btw, enabled middle income seniors to provide for themselves when nothing else would or could.

Name ONE lasting thing that the "right" had done for us so far. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Crickets.

You know what I consider the prime difference between someone like myself and my counterparts on the "right?" It's simple. If a Democratic President and Congress had've taken a blowtorch to the Constitution and American ideals the way this admistration and its enablers have, I would've been screaming about it as loudly as anyone could. But since the situation is reversed, all we hear from the right is cheering.

If Democrats would've done a fraction of what we've seen in the past six years, the "right" would've had a meltdown.

Go figure.

I've heard Lieberman called one of the last true Democrats some time ago. Liberal on domestic issues, but tough on foreign policy. Roosevelt, Truman, Johnson, and JFK were mentioned as well in the mold.
I tend to like that myself in a guy for office, I think.
