I long to be held
Husband
pay attention to me
I know you love me
there is never a doubt
Yet you are a busy man
I love you
you are my heart's desire
I'd hold you if you'd let me
I know you are busy
Bringing your plate of food
I smile to you
Proclaiming my love
A peck on the cheek
from you and
I grin as you devour
gratefully your dinner
Will you be up late?
Yes, you are busy.
I'll wake you at 4:30
Goodnight, Hon I love you.
I wake you, and it takes a few
minutes
I'd linger if you weren't so busy
So I bring your coffee
and smile
sighing as I return to bed
I'd been hoping to chat with you
at least
but you must ready yourself for
this week away
and conversation will
slow you down
I respect you are busy and
I love you
Tears fill my eyes
I am starving
for your affection
I know you are busy
there is no blame
merely a plea
Husband
Please
pay attention to me

If this is true, and I suspect it is, I suggest the two of you have a serious talk. Many marriages fall apart because of far less.
Well written, emotional piece. Thanks for sharing it.
but doesn't sorrow make such lovely art?
Nancy, thank you. We have had this talk in the past, and I shall steal him away and remind him again. He does not crave nor need the affection of a touch, it is merely his way. He knows I have friends and we hug a lot and that is rather a surrogate he is glad I have. He is so focused, he just is not thinking about our love when our marriage is stable and his work is pressing.
We've been together since 1984, and we will stay together until death, I presume.
I'll continue to remind him I need a bit of affection and will hug my friends.
your kindness and tenderness bring grateful tears.
You are right, of course, and I will simply hand my husband this poem when he gets back in town.
I will wait for him. We are OK.
It is funny, Amy, you mention touch as my language, for it is truth and it is not the only langage we speak differently! It is special to (and quite amusing) learn and know so much love lies behind our differing ways. WE are happy and stable, and it is now and then we remind one another (and ourselves) when it's not obvious.
Thanks.
Also, I must say our friends are extremely touchy feely (in a wonderful, respectful way) that I get my touches and give them as well every day.
Perhaps you need to find that way. Counseling can be a good thing.
He He.
