Capitol crime, capitol punishment
Do the crime do the time
We are full of little platitudes like that
What about the innocent who may be killed
They will tell you that the percentage is so small
As not to worry about it
I'll bet the innocent does plenty of worrying
Before he breaths his last
How about the children who go to outdated, run down
Unsafe schools with out of date books
They will tell you that nothing can be done without raising taxes
And you know how popular an idea that is
They will tell you most anything they think you want to hear
To just get elected
And then fail in very large part to keep any of their campaign promises
Like our current pro-life president.
How pro-life is he now
A disaster strikes in God knows where
And we send in workers an a few hundred million dollars to help out
While not three miles from my house homes were flooded
Six lives were lost and someone from FEMA says
There isn't enough money to buy these people out of their flood and fire ravaged homes
How can this be you ask
We can help foreign countries and not our own people
They will deny that politics is in any way involved
That beloved twenty century philosopher POGO said
We have met the enemy and they are us
