Sunlight shimmers on foam capped waves of blue;
Seagulls fly with the salty ocean breeze;
I am consumed in the presence of you:
I feel myself thaw from the winter's freeze.

We run and frolic like children at play;
We splash in the waves as the sun beams down;
Our castle of sand may soon wash away;
But for now we enjoy without a frown.

We lie in the sand and you kiss me soft;
Oh! I have never felt this way before;
I feel my heart soar in the clouds aloft;
You are all that I want and so much more.

Yes, this day at the shore is perfect bliss;
I could stay forever locked in your kiss.

Thank you. I found a book about sonnets and was studying the rhyme scheme of one particular form....and I was playing around with it. The scheme is 10 syllables in each line....and then the rhyme pattern is abab, cdcd, efef, gg. It was fun to play around with...

Beautiful sonnet, Cheryl, completely expressed, and sensitive in all its facetsl. Who wouldn't want to be in the picture you've painted--male or female? Except perhaps John, who hates the shore. No offense, John.
