Dershowitz's "Civilian Continuum"

Question, is this boy and his mother a part of Alan Dershowitz's 'civilan continuum'?

fileId:3096224743875331;size:inter; Not that it matters a bit that Dershowitz is using the same argument Osama bin Laden made about 9/11. As long as it's Israel moral equivalence is unacceptable, right?

And let me make something very clear here before I get attacked as an anti-semite. I do not reject Israel's right to exist and live in peace with its neighbors.

What I do object to is when Israel tears apart an entire country--that includes a great deal of Catholic Christians--as a form of collective punishment. I find that extremely objectionable.

What I find even more repugnant and objectionable is that people like Dershowitz actually make these kinds of horrific arguments. Did we learn nothing from World War II? Did we learn nothing from the Holocaust?

I agree. Tell people to flee the area, but then attack the only vehicles that they probably have available. to escape in. It is about the same as telling the tens of thousands of poor people in New Orleans to flee Katrina without providing them any means of escape. It is formalism and legalism at its best. Israel somehow, sometime, must realize that just because you have the right and might to do something, it doesn't mean you should. Remember the famous quote from the Vietnam War " We had to destroy the village in order to save it". The same logic is being used in Iraq, unfortunately. thanks for bringing this up. dershowitz has made an ass of himself on more than one occasion. if there's a poster-boy against tenure...he's it.
this guy even failed at an attempt to run a deli in harvard square and he continues to mouth off about israel. he won't open a deli or teach there...or torture people.
both he and larry tribe are stuck at harvard because neither kennedy, dukakis , or kerry made it to the white house, ergo they didn't make it to the court. so like aging transvestites, they complain on pbs and make life intolerable for gentile and progresive jewish law students. cupvadics:-)

I agree that it wasn't a good idea for Hizbollah to start this war at all, and then to follow that up by complaining of the killing of the folks in Lebanon.

There must be many more people killed to resolve the Hizbollah action.

We're not talking about Hezbollah, nor are we talking about who started this and when. We are talking about Dershowitz justifying the killing of innocents in the same way Osama bin Laden has. Stay on topic, don't deflect.

Then I would suggest that one not be disturbed when others comment on the words seen in the thread.

By the way, I've not seen any rule that one can't expand the subject in any thread at all.

Sean-Paul, Unfortunately, neıther the Bush camp nor Israel have learned any lessons from history. Nor are they likely to learn anything from the present crisis which by the way was started by Olmert when he began bombarding Gaza and Lebanon. If he wanted peace he could just have agreed to the prison exchange, there are hundreds of Palestinians and Lebanese in Israeli jails, a fact that is well known to everyone. Don't these people have a right to be free?
