I have been wanting to write about this for a long time. In Florida, John Couey went on trial for the murder of Jessica Lunsford. I'm sure everyone in the Country remember's what happened to her. Couey abducted, raped and buried that little girl alive. She was nine years old. I'm sure when the jury notices went out those people picked cringed. Just the idea of being in the same room as him, and breathing the same air would have made me sick.
Well, no un-biased jury could be picked. Now, the power's that be are searching Florida to find someplace where this blackguard can be tried fairly.
Why? He's allready confessed. I've heard some of it, but the jury can't because he asked for a lawyer seven times, so the confession is invalid. People all over the Country have heard that confession. People all over the Country know she was kept in a mobile home across from her Family. Other's in that mobile home claimed they didn't know he had her in the closet. Bull Shit.
My point is this: Tax payer's hard earned money is being used to try him, lodge him, feed him, clothe him, hire him a lawyer, test him, and observe him. He has confessed. He, like all American's, are innocent until proven guilty. That's his right. Where was that little girls's right to live?
I could not give an un-biased opinion if I were chosen for jury duty. I believe that once a pedophile, alway's a pedophile. Even castration doesn't work. I would vote for the death penalty even though I have been wishy-washy about it for years. That would be my sole purpose if I was ever chosen for that jury.
My question is this: Am I alone in my view's about this case? Every one has an opinion, and I want to hear it. There is no right or wrong opinion. .

I have an answer for that: He got the lawyer.
Yes, he is dispicable, and yes, he confessed. But the law is the law, and it protects all of us. Because the law gets abused and, in cases such as this, it seems ludicrous, it is still the law we live by.
I agree, pedophiles are never cured. And he should be punished. But if we bypass the law in this case, how about in the case where a man who "looks like" the murderer, is accused of the crime? What the hell, no trial?
Come on. Bad, bad plan.
And no one is implying that he should be set free, only that he deserves a trial. As for the "looks like" and "confessed", you cannot ignore the law in one case, and abide by it in another. They are exactly the same in that regard. That is my point.
You either have a Constitution that applies to everyone, or you do not.
Because this is AMERICA. Our consititution guarantees EVERYBODY a fair trial, even the most despicable among us. Imagine what our legal system would be like if we got to pick and choose who gets a trial and who doesn't.
Besides, lynchings are out of vogue.
I no longer trust judges that continue to let guys like him go free all the time because they're too short, or had a bad childhood, yada, yada, yada. They are not curable.
That's why I support Jessica's law, and if your state hasn't passed something like it with teeth to save our children, ask why.
