Last weekend, my daughter Jamie, and Eric, her boyfriend of five years came to dinner. They were acting a little sheepish., hanging around longer than usual, giving each other sly looks, grinning at each other, and the like. My immediate thought was, "They want to borrow money".
I asked her, "Ok, What do ya want to ask me?",
"Nothing"
"OK, What do you want to TELL me?"
Sheepish Grin
"Oh My God!!, You're Pregnant!"
"Yeah" in a tiny little voice I haven't heard for years.
We laughed, we cried, we hugged, we laughed some more.
"When are your two getting married?"
"It's on our to-do list"... merry laughter.
I am going to be a bona fide Granny. Now, my son has a girlfriend, whose daughter(not my son's), four, calls me Mamaw, and I love her dearly, but this is different, this is my baby girl. My baby girl is going to be a Mommy. I think all you Mothers out there can understand this.
I am so looking forward to this. Laughing at her pregnant woes, talking her through those hormonal moments, and yes, I plan to tease her mercilessly.
Today, she had to hand the phone to Eric as we were talking, to go throw up...This is going to be just SOOOO much fun!

Congratulations, Donna! The baby will come in February?
You'll be the coolest "Mamaw." Congratulations! I expect periodic status reports at the OHC HQ.

Sandy,

Did I ever tell you how much your icon resembles my Grandma Fannin?

I think it might be a little soon for that. Don't want to jinx anything, ya know , but thanks for the well wishes. The same to you and yours.
Thanks. Oh, yeah, spoil 'em rotten and send 'em home....
Scott,
I try, but I think both Jamie and Scott(yep, my son is a Scott too) would use the term "lame"..lol

The Physical Therapist where I work is from northern India, and now I have another word to slip into casual conversation when she least expects it.
God bless.
