South Africa occupies the southern tip of Africa, its long coastline stretching more than 2 500km from the desert border with Namibia on the Atlantic coast southwards around the tip of Africa and then north to the border with subtropical Mozambique on the Indian Ocean.

It is one of the most geographically varied countries of the African continent, comprising territory that ranges from the rolling, fertile plains of the highveld and the wide open savanna of the Eastern Transvaal to the Kalahari desert and the peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains.

Seeing as I live in North Texas, I really appreciated the mountains and the beaches.

Jihaan, thanks for posting these. Love the new pics and the water looks incredible. The first one is my favorite though, with the light shimmering off of the water.

Have you read "The Covenant" by James Michener? A wonderful book, and I've been dying to go to South Africa since I finished it. Your photos are well done. Nice perspective.
