From a New York Times slideshow of "memorable photographs:"

A sniper loyal to Shiite cleric Moqtada al Sadr fires towards U.S. positions in the cemetery in Najaf, Iraq.Michele McNally: "Right there with the Mahdi army. Incredible courage."
Got that? The New York Times has photographers embedded with the terrorists as they shoot at and kill our soldiers. Think these photographers/journalists provided any information about the terrorists to U.S. forces so that our troops could capture/kill the people who are trying to kill them?
I wouldn't bet on it.
And Times managing photo editor Michele McNally thinks this is an act of "courage."
Unbelievable.

First, the photo Rob Port objects to so much was taken by Joao Silva. Silva is a citizen of South Africa.
Second, Silva is a photojournalist who works for not just the NY Times but basically any publication that pays him.
Third, this sniper would be doing precisely what he is doing regardless if a photographer were present or not.
Fourth, Silva wasn't embedded with anyone. The fact he was able to get his photo and share it with Americans isan incredible act of bravery and resourcefulness.
I rated this three, for effort.
