Everyone is wearing their Italian T-shirts now that the Italians have won the world cup.
No, I did not see game, i was busy ironing clothes, talking on the phone to a friend of mine that rolled in from New York and listening to a Fleetwood Mac DVD, no, i did not have time nor inclination to watch 11 grown men chase a ball..my daughter's third class teacher phrased it well , he told her, "Why can't they give 11 balls so that each person can have a ball?", a sense of humor he has, the teacher who has been so stingy with grades in dictations , you have to go past him in order to pass through the torturous school system in Switzerland that keeps you till the age of 20 in high school if you want a matriculation certificate that allows you to continue to university, do we want that?
I always thought that was what went wrong with hubby, too many years spent in school, then some more as we trained to become a teacher..
No, he did not give me answer whether he would take the dog while i go with my small son to his last trip in kindergarden ever, the ones that go to school get to go on a trip with their moms today and the dog has to be placed otherwise it's another eviction letter for the dog..
Now i am wearing my own Italian t-shirt wanting to join the crowds that support the Italians like J.F. Kennedy who declared "Ich bin ein Berliner" and people wonder whether he meant he was a doughnaut(Berliner being that too) or proud to be in Berlin , I am too an Italian today wearing my t-shirt i bought in Rome last spring, "Bella Italia", showing all the beautiful places in Italy..i have yet to see most of them;
The tower of Pisa-seen but was afraid to climb up plus it costs about 50 Euro!
Colosseo Roma-been there, so actors dressed up as ancient Romans and a man that lined up a dog, a cat, a parrot ,and a rabbit next to him on the road leading to that famous site for money..i wonder if he is still there, the big rabbit huddled next to the street dog for comfort as the noisy cars pass them speeding by, honking.
Pompei-would like to see the city buried under the ruins
Firenze-Florence: on my list still ..next time for sure!
Venice: with the right person i am still waiting for..
Rimini: on my list..
And the list could go on, this is all the place i have on my t-shirt..
I think that people should remember these days as the wear those blue shirts with the Italian flag that Italy is much more than winning a soccer game, even if it is the European cup and i was very happy to see France lose (their hate of foreigners thrown in their face as Zidane leads them to defeat)even though they still misplace my accent and again yesterday the lady at the pharmacy assumes i am French and explains to me how many times i should give the eye drops to my small son in fluent French!
So everyone loves a winner, i bought Italian hats for 2 of my children and one French one for my middle son who admires Zidane, he remains true to his favorite team no matte what.
So have a nice day!
Bon Journo!
Ciao ,
Sigalit

His penalty is a bad mark, but not an insurmountable obstacle for continuing his career. He will be more popular with some for his headbutt. I read speculation of him coming to play for the NY Red Bulls, who I didn't even know existed before today. I guessed we had a soccer team, but they don't get much press in NY. His headbutt image could be a selling point, in the NY media.
i actually wanted to watch but decided not to after all those years of soccer being the main event of our lives..now i am free to decide , but am sorry now i did not watch..wanted to watch it with a lot of people, i heard from an Italian mother they were driving around the center of down town zurich honking their horns , a mother of 3 , almost 50 years old!
As for the italians what a brilliant idea to curse the mother of the star player! even though it is really low, anything to beat the foreign hating frogs...funny how a nation of foreign haters could admire so much a son of a former colony ..Christopher, i heard he is retiring that this was his last game..perhaps he needs to learn what i had told my small son the other day,
"sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me!"
