princess sea's 4th birthday

time flies. i cannot believe lillie's 4 now. we celebrated her birthday last week,  while we were at the cottage. what a glorious day for her! it was perfect - swimming, playing, digging in the sand, eating....


she got a little hummer (like a harmonica) and practiced while  relaxing in the hammock.

she got lots of presents...

and she blew out 4 big candles on her sand castle cake...

and later that night, after all the feasting, we went to lake michigan and saw the fireworks. there is nothing like seeing the world anew, through a child's eyes. each firework was excitement personified. she claimed some as 'hers' - and gave us each some, as well. we perched high on a sand dune, and dug little shallows with pillows to lie down in, covered them with quilts, and laid back and watched the show. it was glorious.

Though she doesn't know me from Adam, lillie should know that some guy named KR wishes her the biggest, bestest 4th birthday ever. They grow fast and such, such were the days. Treasure them while you have them (like you need the advice -- lillie's having the most glorious childhood this side of Gather virtuality...).

Sweet, there are images like this that allow me a glimpse of what the beauty of raising a child must be like. All the pictures tug at me, but the picture of Ed and Lilly on the water makes me pause and wonder...
