"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
I took a moment to reflect upon that statement, it truly is an empowering and insightful statement! What displeases you about our society, world, town etc? How are you acting and reacting differentially to improve the situation around you? Essentially we must reflect our visions in order to make them a reality. That means leading by example, actions speak louder than words and all that good stuff. If we truly desire positive change we must be the pioneers.
Today I find myself surrounded with chaos and turmoil. Not in my own personal life but in the lives of my coworkers and friends. All the conflict and drama seems to be resulting from the lack of consideration for other view points and experiences.
People tend to only see things from their own perspective, this is a common issue in our society. It is difficult to try and see things from another person's point of view. The result is everyone simply running around reacting to situations with only themselves in mind.
Considering another persons feelings, situation or thoughts rarely happens. One person feels they were "wronged" and they react by "wronging" another and the cycle just repeats. Hundreds of people are just going around blindly reacting to situations, jumping to conclusions and punishing each other.
The bottom line is there are bad people and situations all around us. We can become bitter and jaded or we can be the change we wish to see in the world.
What ways are you changing the world today?

"God give me the strength to change those things I can change,
the courage to accept those things I cannot change
and the wisdom to know the difference."
Carrying out its tenets is not easy, but if done one is permitted to focus our energies on those things one can change and not waste energy and time on worrying about things one can't change.
My own choice was to join the military to more directly combat communism and ensure that America was strong during the cold war which could have turned hot. The sacrifice for my family, particularly for my wife was considerable, for myself somewhat less. I was away from home 9-10 months of most years of my career making it very difficult for my wife, God bless her.
My point is, you can't aid in fixing many things, but need to concentrate on one or two and accept the existence of the others as being beyond your capabilities. Whatever you choose to do, do the best possible and meet the highest standards of human behavior.
Best regards, Ben
