For those of you who need something beyond me..ah,ah ..yours truly has spent her hours after the children had gone to bed rather than do the wash and wash the dishes letting it all hang out and sat down to search this jewlicious web site that offered a list of blogs.
I was looking for something a bit different that speaks in a unique voice!
I had wanted to show some photos of the beautiful Israel and lacking the tecnical skills, my 8 year old is still learning ..i thought wouldn't it be nice to offer people that are interested some visual stimuli and some intellectual , so here is what i dug up:
I. For the intellectual ones that are seeking a dialogue here is one site i personally liked:
*chayyei sarah.com :
Sarah is an Orthodox (modern) Jewish 30 something living, playing, writing and dating in Jerusalem .
She offers an interesting viewpoint from jerusalem and is very involved in the current issues in the news and up to date.
she also offers adorable photos of her nephew and tells a bit about her life but mostly she is living the news, and feels everything that happens in Israel deeply.
I feel she has a lot to say and says it well.
*The view from here:
A unique viewpoint on life by Harry and Ziva who live in Israel .
Harry is very outspoken! (should perhaps watch his language..some F. words when he gets over excited)
*Town crier:
A serious blog that gives you the news from a jewish viewpoint.
II.Creative:
*Drybones:
Political cartoons that put the Iranians to shame, very discreet and yet funny, drawn by a cartoonist that has been publishing in the Jerusalem post since 1973¨!
Here Yaakov Kirschen , the cartoonist also discusses his choices and the ideas behind his cartoons..
Here is one exemple:
The Palestinian calendar
A palestinian speaks :
"Each year we celebrate the disaster of 1948 when we chose war instead of a state along side of Israel.
In time of course we'll be celebrating the disaster of 2006 when we chose the Hamas terror instead of a state alongside Israel."
The true story behind this cartoon is that some Israeli Arabs have marked a sort of holocaust day every Israeli independent day in May imitating the ceremonies that mark annually the holocaust memorial day..i personally find this use of the holocaust in very poor taste much like the use of the Iranian president in his holocaust cartoon competition...
*The pig of death
Do not be misled by the title!
this guy from Brooklyn has collected funny short 1 minute videos you can view on the net
some of my favorite:
-Cow abductions:
where a farmer sews a grass outfit to save her cow from abduction..
-Google idol:
and last but not least:
The kid from brooklyn .com
(video podcast no. 4)
This is an old man complaining ..(in yiddish kveting) he turns it to an art form..
A must!!
oh, i forgot the cutest:
the video of a pig adopting puppies from Greece.
Adorable!
III.
Nostalgia:
*Judenstadt
A 21 year old American student that visited Israel and made some amazing photos that bring israel to your doorstep, sun , sea, and all!
some interesting tibits too!
*Virtual jerusalem:
you can view the wailing wall though i could not figure that out, for the technically willing to be challenged -do!
IV.
sites for learning:
For nonjews that want to learn to read the bible in original language.
Could you be possibly jewish and not know it?
DNA can give you clues about possibly having jewish ancestors!
*History of Judisim:
A crash course in Jewish history that is clever and concise and well documented.
Good for all those threads at gather!
So that is all for tonight,
