36 years ago today, I knew my baby was on the way.
As I attended my baby shower, Melissa was being born that hour.
Got all these presents in the nick of time, and all the gifts were really prime.
Excitment mounted as the time drew near to bring on home our little dear.
We borrowed the car of her daddy's folk as ours had no A/C, and that's no joke.
We took her pink dress from Nolan & Fay to dress our darling on this great day.
She slept in my lap and I was amazed at how beautiful she was at only 3 days.
When she opened her eyes so big and blue, with lashes so long I instantly knew
She'd grow up to be a beauty, no doubt. Her long slender fingers made me shout,
"A concert pianist or sugeon she'll be", but whatever she is, how proud I'll be.
The years flew by and I watched you grow into a gorgeous woman who I now know.
I'm so honored to say I'm the mother of you. I'll love you forever whatever you do.
