"I wish I could be with you tonight" is a lovely, soulful hook, and I like the way you changed it to the realized vision of what the night can hold at the end. This is a very commercial song, Cynthia, in the best possible sense. I played with it in my head the way I do Gershwin tunes. Really plays to a big crowd, and only will lose those who don't fully appreciate a great crooner's tune.

Cynthia, the rhythm of the 1st two stanzas and the bridge are good but the last verse doesn't seem to fit, esp the last lines. i wish I could hear your tune.
It is a bit corny for me, but then I like lots of corny lyrics songs with the right melody. It just doesn't help when you can't hear the tune, I guess. Sorry.

I think you are right, it's commercial. Do not apologize for that; this is what sells. We all want to write marvelous and lofty pieces, but you gotta eat, too.
I know nothing of music, but it sounds pretty to me.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this as a song. I agree with Carol about the last stanza. It is a little akward, but I think I would better understand it if I could hear the melody with it.

It has beautiful emotion but I know nothing about writing song lyrics. I wish you hadn't already told us you thought it was Boltonesque because then I thought of it with him singing it. I always think he over-emotes and I think he could turn a lovely song into a piece of sap.

First thing - Please do not mention Michael Bolton! I agree with Linda and don't want to think of him screaming this song (like he needs a good laxative). ;~`)
I hit a speed bump of sorts wondering about the mistake and then the word is repeated and the last three lines do not flow as well.
Otherwise, this could be a simple and beautiful song. And isn't commercial what you want (at least often enough to make a bit of scratch for all yopur efforts)?

Thanks for the input, and sorry about meantioning such a wretched singer as "you-know-who."

Regarding the last three lines, it does work with the meter that I established...sort of like this (downbeat in bold):

I know how much love we can feel tonight

Perhaps it won't sound so belabored with the right tune and singer.

Sorry. Don't do "free" (ie: illegal) downloads, nor do I encourage them. There are sites where you can legally download independent artists while cutting out the record industry's middlemen. Regarding oldies, that seems a rather gray area since most oldies artists don't see a dime for their old work.

However you think of this issue, go ahead and google if you're really set on this. There could be some really nice public domain music to download, which I have no trouble with whatsoever.

I just won't recommend downloading copywritten material, myself.
