Crystal brought out the Tequila, and Bodine stumbled in the front door.
We raised a toast. "To Laughter! To Jimmy Shambo! We love you, Jimmy Shambo!"
Salt, shot, lime....... yuck that's good.
Jimmy exhaled. He never inhaled again. Dorrie, his wife, felt him move right through her heart.
It was Father's Day at 11:11 PM.
We cried. We held each other. We kissed him goodbye.
As the undertakers carried him out, we sang to him: "Lay down my dear Brother, lay down and take your rest. O Won't you lay your head upon your Saviour's breast? I love you, O but Jesus loves you the best, and I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight" (Jimmy is really into Jesus)
The house was full all week. Wednesday was calling hours, and music filled the Funeral Home.
Thursday, music and tears filled that same funeral home, as we celebrated the life of our favorite Hippie.
Jimmy's wake was held at Ward and Donna's and it was hot and sunny, then the rain broke through and it was a downpour of Hippies dancing in the rain.
It's exactly what Jimmy asked for. We celebrated his life just the way he lived.
Now he's dancing on the clouds.
Johnny Welton wrote and performed a song which, when released, will be a benefit song with all the proceeds going to visiting nurse / hospice.
Fare Thee Well, Jimmy Shambo. Your love lives on in us forever.

Death, the ultimate "trip to the store".
When I read this, I found myself wishing you had included more information about who Jimmy Shambo was. But, after reading your piece and looking at the pictures, I realized that you told us all we need to know about him. Thanks for sharing this.
The love just spills out of those pictures.
Yes, A good healthy way to grieve, for certain.
Another great thing today, Jimmy's Granddaughter, Yeva Shambo, arrived from Russia and her "Glamma" Dorrie got to hold her. Her Daddy, Uncle Dylan and Auntie Belle greeted her and Mommy with love.
It is good to have new life around the house.
Great story Cat, if it weren't for the fact you're in Ohio I could swear I knew all those people.
It is LIFE which the wose soul savors and in which you rejoice. Simplicity of life.
Hold on and enjoy.
