But before I forget, in a fit of cum and courage I wrote this as a comment to JFW's poem, and I am not so creative as to think of something particularly pungent or lucid this morning, so I am posting it here so that it doesn't get lost in the white snow. It's still untitled, like me, but scattered roses almost works. My own little rubicon. Trying to not care anymore. Forced apathy is so much sadder than the real thing. Seriously, I need more coffee.
War Scattered Roses
I saw that sainted mask that called,
Love came and spread like blood in my veins,
That he would call out my name,
Filling me with the Friend, completely emptied me.
Friends tattered robes set ablaze and filled this place,
Only he remains, as all is He.
Arise from that Cave, in Andalucia,
Oh what a song of jubilee there will be,
well not song, rather, let's dance,
And scatter roses and pour wine;
We'll shatter heaven's roof, and
lay a new foundation.
If sorrow raises armies to shed
The blood coursing through friedship's veins,
I'll join with the wine bearer, with
Sharpened spear, to overthrow them,
and rise up from darkened sickness,
weakened king
We would shout, and cry:
"THE BEAST IS SLAIN!"
Or not even loud cries,
With a sweet string at hand, and sing
a sweet song, my friend, and then repose
from song and dance, and turn
but to nods and hushed silence
at the nights demise.

Or I need to drink less coffee and get some sleep. Which I'll do, and come back to this later for another look - because my interpretation is probably way off the mark.
Magi
THE BEAST IS SLAIN!
I still see Abrahamic spirituality as well as contrasting paganism - more Bachus/ Ancient Rome than Valhalla - and enjoy the contrast. I hope there's a spare place at the table, if not the cavorting.
