This is just a quick note to let you all know that Michigan Radio, the U.ofM. NPR Affiliate, is going to air a piece they did on the Young Poet Incarcerated documentary and the Roots Music Workshop we're doing out at Maxey. I had the honor of directing both of these as outreach programs from the Northfield Township Library. Both projects were partially funded by the Michigan Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The story was produced by Michigan Radio reporter Sarah Hulett, and while I don't know the exact focus of her piece we are all excited about it. She interviewed folk music legend Josh White Jr. (with whom I'm working on the Roots Music program), the young man who was the subject of the documentary, one of the students in the Roots Music Workshop, two Maxey staff members, and me.
It will be on at 5:45 PM today on Michigan Radio, 91.7 FM or online at michiganradio.org. They will replay it at 7:35 AM tomorrow morning.
If you enjoy What I've Learned So Far... get on over to my Web site to sign up. Chase all your friends over so they can enjoy it too! They'll thank you, and so will I.

The publicity is not so much for my "great work" as it is for the plight and potential of these kids. It is nice to get recognition for your efforts, but it is mind-boggling to see that work reach out and touch young lives. I'm a very lucky guy to have the chance to be involved in this.
