I am obligated to retract my statement that "Tolerance for playfulness seems scarce." here on Gather.
I didn't plan on getting responses to my article and letter entitled "Changing My Gather Name."

Well, nothing past the "OK - thanks for the heads-up." kind of response.
Silly me, because responses I got. Forty-six of them at last count.
The results came in three basic categories.
1) hope you keep the old name
2) you should do whatever you want; and
3) looking forward to the new name;
Listed in the order of most received, the majority of these letters and comments were outpourings of support and praise. My heart swelled, and I say Thank you to all.
In the face of these responses I am obligated to retract my statement that "Tolerance for playfulness seems scarce."
Apparently it is in plenty supply, at least among my network, here on Gather.
Thank you for your support.
I'll keep my light on.

"Whatever name you want ... stop being so damn virtuous."
"Oh for crying out loud, Bill. If you like your username, why change it?"
"Let the heathens and elitists rant. If they can't take a joke.... "
Thank you all for the inspiration. Best of Luck.
