- Enjoy the beauty of the green plants and colorful flowers at the Botanic Garden on the Mall.
- Check out the free Millenium Stage performances at the Kennedy Center.
- Go up the Clock Tower in the Post Office Pavillion Tower to check out the views of DC.
- Canoe or kayak on the Potomac River or bike along the C & O Canal
- Check out the free exhibits, films, music and other events at the Freer & Sackler Gallery, National Gallery of Art, Hirshhorn Museum, African Art Museum & National Museum of the American Indian.
- Go for a hike on Roosevelt Island.
- On the weekends, look for vegetables, fruits and treasures at Eastern Market, Florida Market, Dupont Market, etc.
- Listen to the drummers in Malcolm X/Meridian Hill Park on Sunday afternoons.
- Check out various street festivals in DC, Virginia and Maryland.
- Go for a walk in Brookside Gardens in MD, and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens & the Arboretum in DC.
