I had procrastinated for quite a while to change my license to DC.
I always heard horror stories about going to the DMV.
Last night when I checked their website I found out that their Georgetown location is open again. It's located in the Shops in the basement. There are other locations, but this was the most convenient one.
So this morning I got up early and took the 32 bus there. I got there by 7:45 am. It opens at 8:15 am. I was finished in less then 15 minutes!
I had to show my current license, passport, social security card and a bill with my dc address. You can also look at their site to find alternative ids you can provide.
It costs $39 and you can pay cash or with a credit card. I had printed out the form at home and filled it out ahead of time. You can download the form from their website. Afterwards, they give you a short eye exam and take your photo. They shred your old license and give you a new one in just a few minutes.

Take plenty to read while you are waiting for DMV to open or just waiting in line...
Getting there early is definitely worth it!
