life is crazy.
my parents have a hobby farm. there is so much to do there that you could work all the time and never rest and still never be done. for many, many years, i've spent my spring break from university, the beginnings of summer, and countless hours weeding my mom's flower garden. too often, the lack of follow-up care (and great mulch) meant that my work lasted only a short while. it was frustrating, to say the least. then there was the year i got my only (thus far, wish me luck) case of poison ivy, trying to pull out that darn PI vine...
however, the last few years have seen a change in the flower garden. black plastic put down, lots of mulch on top, and new transplants (from gram's peonies to granny's roses) have breathed new life into it. for decoration and whimsy, there are trellises, and a glass reflecting ball from germany, and an alligator head whose eyes light up in the dark. and, there's a little leprechaun gnome, hiding. his name is johyo. lillie named him. the garden is a stunning piece of color, now. i am glad i worked on the bare bones for so many years, so that it could build a foundation for today's glory.
reminds me of life.....

Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for brightening up my day.
Kidding. Great photos of full frontal flower action. Full-time job is right. But oh the feeling of putting your feet up with a drink to stare into them come end of day...!
don't you love johyo? he's so much fun. he moves (with grampa's help) and lillie finds him. what a hoot. yes, probably a relative of the green man....
