On Wednesday, thanks to tropical storm Alberto, our area received around six inches of rain all in a matter of hours. My huband Jeff and I went to run errands several hours after the rain stopped, and had to change our normal route due to a flooded road. Take a look at what six inches of rain can do to a road!

Road closed but it doesn't stop this truck. "It's not that deep." He told us as he put the cones back after arriving safely to the other side of the big streaming puddle.

This gives "A River Runs Through It" a whole new meaning!
By the time we went through today, it was all dried up, thank goodness! Nature is amazing, isn't it?

Cindy - I was indredibly GLAD to be inside during the rain - it was torrential! I am glad you made it homesafely, although probably not DRY!
Aunt Judy - Yes - this type of rain knows no boundaries - so I am sure many have seen this before. I personally will never bother to try passing through a flooded road - in a car at least.
Mary - you're welcome! I hope you don't see this in your area for many more years to come - it can be dangerous. We had some sink holes where the road completely evaporated! I was not near any of those to take pictures, but I was glad to not have to experience that!
Larry - exactly - sorry you had to learn the hard way! It is just not worth saving 5 minutes of time. I'd rather back track 20 minutes then try it and end up with $700 in car repairs. Or worse, having your car go down river with you in it! I hope others learn from your story. Thanks for sharing. YES - Cars are not boats!
Pam - I bought a bigger purse so I could keep the camera with me at all times. That is how I have gotten these and the turtle pictures. I figure, you never know when a good picture will come to you. I too am glad this fixed our drought situation, but scared about the hurricane season to come. I know you are not looking forward to our move to TN, but I will be glad to be out of the hurricane pathway! May get a lot of snow, but I can handle that!
