Yes - it is really awesome that Gather has allowed ZBSN this opportunity. I hope it will bring in a good donation for a very worthy cause. Also, if you are not already a member of the Gather Group Zellweger Baby Support Network , please do join. We need to get over 100 active members so we can become a points partner with Gather and then receive donated Gather Points. Please help ZBSN help the families with Zellweger Syndrome babies - they need support!

For those of you that do not know, Zellweger Syndrome is a rare, congenital (present at birth) disorder characterized by the reduction or absence of peroxisomes (cell structures that rid the body of toxic substances) in the cells of the liver, kidneys, and brain. Zellweger syndrome is one of a group of genetic disorders called peroxisomal diseases that affect brain development and the growth of the myelin sheath; the fatty covering that acts as an insulator on nerve fibers in the brain. The general prognosis for Zellweger babies is 6 months to 1 year at best. There are a few less severe cases that live to be 7-8 years old, but that is truly rare. It is a chromosomal disease; therefore both parents must carry the gene. If you have one child with the syndrome, your chance of other children with the same syndrome is 25%.

Pam started this charity after losing her daughter, Olivia, to this disease. By purchasing this Gather mug and goodies, you will help ZBSN reach out to other families with babies who have this terminal illness. Your donation can help make a huge difference in the lives of families going though one of the most difficult and tragic times of their lives.

Congratulations! joanne-tique Won the mug for $31!!!!! I am thrilled with the auction! I may have more set up in the future. I still have one more Gather mug that was given to ME that I haven't used and it has the same items with it. Maybe Next month we will do this again!

My mug arrived yesterday - hooray! I'm enjoying this morning's coffee with its assistance, and have employed the bookmark in holding my place in this week's read.

Just out of curiosity - have you approached Gather about making ZF an option for charitable donation for points? I'd be willing to donate some of mine - and I bet there are others who would do the same.

Great I am glad you got it safely. Take a picture! We were actually approached by Gather for that but we need 100 members to our Zellweger Group here on Gather for us to get donated points. I would love for you to join if you haven't already and ask other connections of yours to join too just to get our number up high enough. :) Soon I will be introducing a new ZS baby that needs our help and we will be auctioning items on Ebay for this baby to get travel money to fly to Spain to see Dr. Martinez who specializes in Peroxisomal disorders. The baby has no chance of survival but with help from Dr. Martinez he might have a little longer less painful life until he becomes an angel. We ask for these donations so that parents can have more time to get to know their babies. Thank you for bidding on the mug. Every little bit helps. I have already decided to put my Mug (unused ) on sometime in July.
