several people have asked me how to put links into gather emails and gather comments. rather than continue to forward them here and there, i'll just put it up here, for all our easy reference!!
type in:
<a href="thewebsiteyouwant.com/whatever"> the words you want to be in blue that will show them where they're going</a>
for instance, here's one to a favorite photo of mine (the link won't work here, because it is in an article and not a comment or email, but you can see how it works)
<a href="/viewPhoto.jsp?memberId=17748&start=37"> my favorite heron photo </a>
and all they will see is this:
my favorite heron photo
of course, if you want to put links into a gather article, there's a link button on the toolbar of the publisher (looks like chains).
but for comments and gather emails, this simple html code will work. good luck!!

how to put links into comments
kevin - can't wait!!
thanks!! glad it helped!
thanks!
Here is what I did. I copied jessie's text up there.... saved it to a text file (textedit or word). go to the page you want.... copy the url. copy the address from the location bar on the browser page. paste into jessie's example. add your link word (eg "here") where she says...
voila....
Us beleaguered Mac guys got to stick together.
(btw bart, Kathleen G is my sista)
faith - putting links into articles is ENTIRELY different. on the article publisher, there's a little chain link thingy, above the bold/italics/etc part...just click on that, you'll get a popup window to put the address in, of where you want to link it. oh, you'll need to highlight the text you want to be blue, then click the chain link button.
i think i need bart here!!!!! he's the (alphabet) man. do you use mac too?
faith - is kathleen really your sis?
nice to visit kath!! can't wait to see! yahoo!!!!!
I've saved your article in my favorites. Thanks!
When you try a <s>strikeout</s> or a

it does not work.
Must be an insider Gather secret. Who do you know, Jess? ;-)
kr - what else do you want to do?? i would say links. underlining, bold, and italics are pretty much the whole bag for things you might want to have in comments. well, besides your centering exercise. i thought at first you were playing baseball....

i hope it works so i don't look like a boob!

i never thought my rudimentary knowledge of HTML would ever come in handy again . . . =)
