I don't know why but this stuff fascinates me.
Brangelina sold the rights to the first images of their child to People Magazine for $4 Million and stated they would donate all the proceeds to charity. Seems nice enough, I guess, if true.
People got the exclusive right to the initial publication of the images. I guess I would want that too for $4 Million.
But then some websites got hold of and published a picture of the People Magazine Cover (which included the image of the Brangelina Baby) leading People Magazine to instantly file lawsuits seeking injunctions against the websites. (I haven't gone hunting around for the images because that's not what interests me about this story but I'm sure you could find them if you wanted to).
Does anybody else get amused/bewildered by the nonsense that surrounds celebrities just because they're good looking and (sometimes) can act?

Hey what about the idea I told you about, now that beats the Brangelina baby any day! ( ;
OTOH, I couldn't care less about them and their offspring, even if they named it Pineapple.
Actually these days I think people care so much about celebs so they don't have to focus on the current state of our country, the planet, and on their own narrow lives .... at least that's true for me ;')
My mom watches entertainment tonight and reads people. I've long tried to understand what the hell interests her so deeply in the lives of people she will never meet, but she just can't explain it to me.
Some of the stuff is pretty funny. LIke Denise Richards hooking up with ex-best friend Heather Locklear's estranged husband, Richie Sambora. I can't help it, I think it's funny. I'm sure it's hurtful for those involved but I mean, come on. Then . . . when you throw Charlie Sheen into the mix, it really gets fascinating.
Or maybe you're so amazed at their sleezy, slutty, shitty behavior that you just can't stop marvelling at what they'll do to make a buck and keep their name/face in the public eye.
Hey, Tommy Lee sold his body to go back to college (lol) for some bucks.
If I weren't happily married, of course.
But
even more of them don't.
They use their copious bucks to live lifestlyes offensive to many people. They use their power to limit the opportunities of others. They use their name and pix to make even more bucks. Then they form production companies to produce more pix that star and benefit them. Then they do PSA's asking all to donate $ to their favorite charities and to influence our behavior..
Hmmm..... maybe I'm in the wrong line of work....
Well, the ONLY thing about this article that hit me as good, was the giving of the 4 million to charity - if true. Now, if we could just manage to pay our teachers and police officers what they are worth, what a wonderful country this could be!
i find it amusing that at times when lots of people choose to live the moment and stay alone or just enjoy their partner..hollywood stars in role reversals choose to raise children like the masses..
I think we have to take responsibility ourselves for putting them in the situation by purchasing the magazines that paid the money for the rights, and would have paid any free-lance annoyance to invade their privacy to get the photos in any way possible. If this bizarre society of ours didn't spend a fortune on magazines full of photos of celebs and stories about celebs, then the magazines would be unprofitable and would go out of business.
Sandy makes some interesting points to which I'd like to add, in a way of musing, that the last time Hollywood magazines and celeb were all the rage was during the depression. Now it is celebs and "reality show" "celebs" who make us all believe that WE could be chosen for Mtv House Party and be instantly famous, too. Not to mention millionaires. It is on a par with poor folk buying lottery tickets and joining the military when they can't get a job - it is the only way out of povery and despair that they can find. It gives them a little hope.
