Theft By Marriage / Con Artistry At Work
He came to me gently, sweetly
He came with oh such cunning
His life seemed laid out neatly
I never thought of running
His courtly manner was so meet
His passion seemed so burning
Yet there were signs of his deceit
Though not that I was learning
Alcohol, verbal filth, abuse
Then gushing and his sweet talk
Money gone, a ruse
Don't leave, let's take a walk
Though friends did hear my cries and shouts
Still I thought that I could last
He's pure evil--get out!
One night the die was cast
I left just after nightfall
While he lay there in his chair
And escape was not the only wall
To think I once did care
Through court battles I endured
His abuse was even more
His lying, exposed, I forever cursed
And once I thought Pure Evil lore !

I almost felt guilty enjoying your misery this way - but I know the good part is that you are out of this situation and happy now. Good for you!
