just got this over the email today on co-cure. if you're interested, follow up with them:
Acurian, a company which prescreens applicants for clinical trials,
is advertising a new study of an investigational drug for the pain caused
by fibromyalgia. Although the advertisement was seen in the Sacramento,
California, area, there are apparently doctors throughout the U.S.
who are participating, although no further information on what the drug is,
or who and where the doctors are, is available from the company without
a successful application.
The website is www.acurian.com, and they have a toll-free number:
1-800-707-2650.

nancy - a rheumatologist would be a good start, but a knowledgeable family dr could, too. the national fibromyalgia association is a great place to start. i'd also look on the message boards of the fibromyalgia part of about.com - they have lots of good dr recs, and if you put your location in and ask, they can give dr recs....or on the fm association - the patient support groups can be a good source of doctors or information.
good luck!! it is a really debilitating disease, and has lots of cousins (cfids, etc)....
Chronic pain ..........wonderful if there is a med for it. I felt so much better when I was on the Dr. Dean Ornish Program if anyone wants to check that out. It is diet, meditation, yoga, exercise. I've strayed away but must return to it.
I trust Dr. Mercola at www.mercola.com HERE and would probably follow his guidance as well.
Best wishes, Ben
