"Without science and mathematics, without history and philosophy – without even a concept of progress beyond the unnatural cycle of the Gregorian calendar, indeed – he is, like all children, trapped in an Eternal Present, bound to follow his most immediate fears and desires and thus as ignorant in matters of ethics or morality as in all others."
