Remember when we first went out together on the lake?
You were so shy and I was coy and my leg I tried to break!
And then remember the occasion when I fixed the picnic lunch?
And all the fried chicken was devoured when Pat had in the bunch?
On both occasions you consoled me with tender loving care.
I miss that kind of tenderness since tension's in the air.
Remember all the movies we went to way back when?
And how we dressed up for each other and our love was not pretend?
Then came the day you left me, your fortune to pursue.
Per diem helped to build the farm. But, oh, how I missed you.
Remember how I schemed and bid to fly to Washington?
To spend those precious hours with you made life worth living, Hon.
T'was there you said you'd marry me. In my heart there was a song.
We even bought our wedding rings. Oh, my darling, what went wrong?
Remember when our eyes would meet and speak without a word?
Our thoughts were of each other and our faults were always blurred.
Your warm embrace, your tender kiss, your touch, an electric shock..
I would have sworn, my darling, our love was solid as a rock.
The years go by, our lives have changed, our ways we do not mend.
Our love has been the victum, but I still Remember When.

Wish you a happy birthday!
Dolphi, thank you for the birthday wish and for reading my sad poem. We were married over 28 years before it finally ended.
I noticed a typo that you may want to fix. In the line that says "To spend those precious hours with you made life worth liviung, Hon", you misspelled "living". The I and the U are right next to each other on the keyboard, so that's an easy mistake to make. :-)
