There is no doubt that what happened in Haditha was a tragedy, regardless of whether or not our Marines are culpable. But amidst all that tragedy there is something we can be proud of:
U.S. investigators arrived in March, the townspeople said. They brought cameras to record the witnesses, and toys for the surviving children.
When our military heard of this situation they sent out investigators to find the truth before the media hype/left-wing outrage began. And our troops will ultimately be held accountable in a court of law for the facts established by this investigation.
Because despite what people like Rep. John Murtha and other leftist political hacks would have you believe, we are the good guys in Iraq. We are fighting an evil that has no qualms about murdering women and children in their cowardly attacks.
Perhaps we should keep that larger picture in mind as the proceedings surrounding this incident progress.

Bringing toys is kind of meaningless after wiping out a couple of families--including children as young as two.
And let's not forget, the military tried to cover up Haditha.
more tripe. "we" are the ones who preemptively invaded iraq based on false evidence. that doesn't make us the "good guys" in iraq by a long shot.
i withdraw the snarky comment that was to go here. it isn't even necessary.
Cat., I'm impressed someone remembers Operation Paper Clip; Rob it's never a good strategy to try and Spin out of a Tragedy. You just dig in deeper. Death smells from all directions.
Rob., On a positive note; this issue will be revealing as to how Americans treat it. Time to get the old Jesus bracelet out and wear it again. But then, you and I do not wear bracelets. Thanks for a different perspective. Christopher
now you're barking up the wrong tree...
great comments.
;p
Although this in no way justifies the soldiers involved going 'postal", it might mean that some of those killed were involved. It is a tragedy, and the guilty should be tried, but they are human individuals, and not the military soldiers over-all.
