There is a saying, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." We've all heard it and some of us have experienced serendipitous moments of self-discovery through another person. I've learned that each person who comes into my life is there for a reason.
I also believe that if you need a bit of knowledge, it can come to you from a book. I love books. I'm sure that you've heard that if you ask a question, open a book, the answer will be on that page.
Many questions come through my head. Oh, the usual. Where am I going, and am I coming or going...where am I? Who am I? Last week, I was in a thrift store downtown and found this wonderful book. I've actually checked it out from the library years ago but there it was, again. It was something I know I needed to read.
The book cost a whole quarter. I spent a whole dollar and got four books filled with all the wisdom I needed for the week - maybe for my whole life. This is from the book:
ON WOMEN TURNING 50
CELEBRATING MID-LIFE DISCOVERIES
INTERVIEWS AND PHOTOGRAPHY By Cathleen Roundtree 1993
Actually, when I first read this book, I was in my mid-forties but I have realized when we are in our forties, we're putting on our training shoes. When we get to the fifties, we start running in life's marathon. This is the first thing that popped out at me from this book:
Victor Hugo: "The forties are the old age of youth, While the fifties are the youth of old age."
Smart man. The rest of the book contains interviews with several women from artists to activists. I just wanted you to know that maybe this book may help you along your path. Have a glorious day!
