Canadian Aid Literary Award Contest
Canadian Aid Charity and BookLand Press invite you to participate in the Canadian Aid Literary Award contest.
PRIZE: The Canadian Aid Literary Award winning author will receive a trade book contract for publishing of the manuscript with BookLand Press Inc.ELIGIBLE WRITERS: Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible to enter.
The judges, staff and owners of BookLand Press Inc. and the directors, board members, staff and volunteers of the Canadian Aid Charity may not enter the contest.
ELIGIBLE ENTRIES:
- The contest is open - any genre, any audience. Colouring and activity books for children are not eligible;
- Manuscript length - 50 pages minimum (with the exception of children's books, which must contain at least 25 pages);
- Not previously published in any format.
ENTRY GUIDELINES:
- The Canadian Aid Literary Award is given to the manuscript chosen by the panel of independent judges. Works are judged anonymously on the basis of the author's use of language, originality of subject and writing style;
- Blind judging requires that the author name, address, acknowledgements, manuscript dedications, not appear anywhere in the body of the manuscript to be judged;
- We accept manuscripts typed one-side only, double-spaced, numbered, on 8.5 x 11 paper, not stapled;
- Include author name, address, e-mail, phone number, manuscript title and a literary biographical note on a separate sheet of paper;
- Manuscript must be available in digital form in MS Word format upon request;
- Manuscripts will be returned if accompanied by a Self-Addressed-Stamped-Envelope (SASE) with sufficient Canada Post stamps;
- Judging is at the discretion of the Canadian Aid Charity and BookLand Press Inc. Judging comments are not provided to entrants;
- Contest entry fee is $45 per manuscript. Multiple entries are allowed. The $45 entry fee must accompany each entry. Include a cheque or money order made payable to Canadian Aid Charity. No cash by mail, please;
- Contest entry fee is tax-deductible. Official tax- deductible charitable receipt will be issued by Canadian Aid Charity (Revenue Canada charitable registration number 822819074RR0001).
ENTRY DEADLINE: Postmarked by August 31, 2006
Award winner and finalists will be announced by December 1, 2006.
Results will be posted at www.canadianaid.org and www.booklandpress.com
