With tomorrow being Memorial Day I figured this was good timing. For all of you who have lost loved ones in the Middle East, for all of you who have fought in wars, for all of you who have fought in any war for any country...for those of you who have lost track of how many soldiers we've lost since Iraq began:

Get the tissues ready. It's a wake-up call.
I will think of this book as I make my way up to that area of Maine today.

Me too. I cried in my coffee this morning as I read it to my husband over breakfast. I just knew that it had to get out there on Gather.
You're welcome. I wonder if anyone in the Oval Office reads Gather? *guffaw*
One of my favorite things about the book is the fact that a 75 year old keeps it up to date. It shows how much that person cares for our country as they are a Vet as well.
I don't think the book will change anything...but it's important to have a record. A good friend of mine 'went numb' over the numbers...she stopped keeping track at 1000 because her brain would not process it anymore...perhaps our Gov't is numb at the numbers past 1000 too?? It's not just the dead it's the injured...when the injured # reaches 20,000 will our country take it seriously then??
and their families...
May Hope Forever Remain...
Salud,
He can't look at the book.
Hugs,
Leah G.
Me & my husband knew there had to be some brave souls who could not look at the book. You are lucky to have him safe & sound (he is home now, right? or did he get re-deployed?)
As I made my way around Belfast ME on Memorial Day I could not help to think about the book...even though I was supposed to be tooling around enjoying the weather.
I did get some local Maine veggies and homemade bread...it's all about supporting the local Maine economy!
