I'm such a fangirl. Today I went to the free WBOS concert called EarthFest. It was amazing. I was on recycle duty so I got a VIP wristband. I got to eat free BBQ for my hard trash-pickin' efforts...and well I got to breathe James Blunt's second-hand smoke and get him to sign my CD. *swoon*
I also went to see The Fray. The lead singer put on a Red Sox shirt during the show...of course the crowd loved that. The Charles River was filled with boats. People pulled up to the shore to catch some free tunes. There were various vendors giving away free food. It was sponsored by Whole Foods...so there was a lot of their stuff (food samples) there too.
Brandi Carlisle was very good too. Many said she reminds them of a young Janis Joplin.
My left ear is painfully ringing (my fault...I was front row NEXT TO the speakers without earplugs). I only caught part of Los Lonley Boys because I was too busy hanging with James (first name basis now. okay. kidding.).
If any of you gets a chance to see James Blunt (1 of People Magazine's most beautiful people for 2006), Brandi Carlisle, or The Fray...see them. The Fray's spring tour just ended with this show.
To learn more about the bands (reading James Blunt's bio is a must as he faught in Kosovo with a guitar and a gun strapped to his tank) view these links below. Check out the music videos on the sites too. I'm all about the good singer/songwriters these days.

Now if only my left ear would stop ringing.

I was not out there crowd-surfing though...somehow I think those folks had more fun (some were high-fiveing eachother as they surfed by) :)
Yeah, and I have plenty of ear plugs at home so there's no excuse. I really should keep some in my backpack at all times. :)
New stuff is good. If you have satelite radio (Sirius) tune into Coffee House 30 for rare and acoustical versions of songs and Alt Nation 21 for all the latest alt rock.
Glad you enjoyed it. Does that mean you did not get soaked during the downpour because you were not there earlier? I hid under a tree to stay dry. :)
Glad you like the photos. Turns out I was too close to the speakers for my video to be good. :(
You're welcome! It's always fun to learn new music. :)
SUCH a good time, though. And my best friend learned that one of her kids adores that Lifeway Kids' Kefir - and I learned that there is such a thing as a REALLY GOOD veggie dog.
Oh too bad I did not see you--I would have danced with you!
Btw, I loved the book Eleanor Rigby by Douglas Coupland.
I agree--that veggie dog was outstanding (as were the other samples!)
