Poncho is the main character in a novel I am working on. I thought this would be a good exercise in character development. It was fun, so I encourage other novel writers to do the same.

That alone was worth a ten from me.
I think I'll give it a try.
I enjoy the fun side of Gather, as you can see by my constant participation. Politics is my second passion, so I enjoy reading those articles and discussions almost as much as writing. But I truly came here hoping to grow as a writer. I hadn't done much essay, article, or short story writing before coming here, and I do believe I have learned in those areas, but I want to learn more, and improve my novel writing skills as well. I'm encouraged by your comments, as I wasn't sure there were many others here with the same goals. Let's do it!
Tanja, You're welcome. I fell in love with Poncho. This is the first time I've ever written a character I fell in love with.
Peg, it is lighter, and much more personal.
Mary, thanks. When I started this novel, I intended it to be light, with humor. The characters went another direction and got deep on me. I've started it over three times now, and they keep getting more interesting. Writing is so fun when that happens.
Stephen, thanks!
Donna.. sigh.. just when I thought we were going to be such great friends!! You want me to introduce you to the love of my life?? Okay, so I have no life. I'll introduce you and may the best woman win. (you know I can write him dead if he ditches me)
I need to quit editing this anthology and get back on that novel...

Stan, hope you got a picture! ;-)
