Temperatures are up to about 75 degrees here in Flagstaff and I think spring is officially here! I really have spring fever and wish I could plant bulbs, vegetables and all that fun stuff. Unfortunately, I am confined to container gardening since I live in an apartment complex.
I am really struggling with not having a yard to fill with plants. We have been container gardening for almost four years now and it is getting old. I am experimenting with composting and growing our own foods.
Things are just feeling a bit limited but I have to admit we are becoming quite creative about what we save, reuse and grow!
I try to find ways to reuse everyday household items instead of just throwing them away. I keep things like milk jugs, coffee containers, grocery bags, cardboard boxes, plastic kitty litter bins, beer/ wine bottles, corks/ bottle caps and more. These items can be reused or can be manipulated to serve other purposes depending on your needs.
For example I use the large 25 gallon kitty litter containers as planters and compost bins. I am trying to think of a use for milk jugs and coffee containers that would help in the garden. Anybody have any ideas? I am also looking for some great patio gardening tips.. Let me know what you think or have done!!
