Jim Osse and Keith Van Thiel from the University of Washington are two of that breed, and they just returned from the shifting sea ice at the warming top of the world after completing another monitoring project that should help clarify causes and consequences of Arctic warming.
I filed a fresh story on the North Pole Environmental Observatory for Science Times today.
Andy Revkin has been an environment reporter for The New York Times since 1995. Revkin has traveled to the Artic three times since 2003, and he was the first New York Times reporter to file stories and images from the North Pole. He is the author of THE NORTH POLE WAS HERE: Puzzles and Perils at the Top of the World.
